Research Interests

Mathematical optimization, particularly mixed-integer nonlinear programming and nonsmooth optimization, along with their applications in operations research, data science, and other related fields.

Shaoning is a Presidential Young Professor (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Mathematics at National University of Singapore. Before that, He was a postdoctoral researcher and worked with Professor Jong-Shi Pang in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC). Shaoning obtainted his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering at USC under the supervision of Professor Andrés Gómez, and received his B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Shaoning’s research is focused on nonlinear optimization and mixed-integer programming.
