IORA celebrates Prof Zhao and Prof Melvyn for receiving the 2026 INFORMS TSL Best Paper Award! We congratulate Prof Yue Zhao, former IORA Research Fellow, and Prof Melvyn Sim, IORA Affiliated Professor, along with their coauthors Prof Zhixing Luo, Prof Stanley Lim, and Prof Caihua Chen, for receiving this award. 🎉

Presented annually, the award recognizes an outstanding paper in transportation science and logistics. Their paper, “Service-Oriented Considerate Routing: Data, Predictions, and Robust Decisions”, improves service-oriented routing by incorporating couriers’ workload and location familiarity to enhance delivery-time predictions and routing decisions. Using real-world data from a cold chain logistics firm, the study shows how these factors can improve timely delivery performance. 🚚

The recognition highlights the paper’s practical relevance and the impact of operations research on transportation and logistics. It also reflects our faculty and alumni’s contributions to advancing the field and translating research into real-world impact.
