The Pierskalla Award is an accolade granted by INFORMS which recognizes the best paper of the year in the healthcare sector. Dr Zhu has won the award this year for his paper, Got (optimal) milk? Pooling donations in human milk banks with machine learning and optimization, out of a pool of 88 papers. The paper describes the development and implementation of a data-driven framework for prescribing pooling decisions without access to macronutrient measurements in donor milk banks.
