OUR TRIP TO BOGOR

On 27 and 28 February, 2025, the NUS team embarked on a highly productive visit to IPB University in Bogor, Indonesia, fostering academic collaboration and advancing research in food supply chain management.

First Day at Bogor Agriculture University

On the first day we received a beautiful address from;

· Dean of SB-IPB, Prof Noer Azam Achsani

· Director of Global Connectivity IPB, Dr Eva Anggraini

· Director of IORA NUS, Prof Chung Piaw Teo

Preliminary discussions were presented;

· Technology Readiness in Food Supply Chain, Dikky Indrawan (IPB)

· Process flexibility and system design with uncertainties, Mabel Chou (NUS)

· Supply Chain Resilience Dashboard for Critical Cold Chain Item Import, Koh Chaik Ming (NUS)

Setting up the plan;

· Topic 1: Case Study and Analysis on Banana Supply Chain, Dikky Indrawan and Koh Chaik Ming

· Topic 2: Data Driven Intelligent Demand Forecasting for Banana Harvest, Toni Bakhtiar and Yuan Xue-Ming

· Topic 3: Banana Shelf-life Prediction Models and Algorithms, Yessie Widya Sari and Liu Peng

· Topic 4: Harvest Decision Making for Banana Farms, Marimin and Mabel Chou

· Topic 5: Dynamic Pricing for Banana Farms, Noer Azam Achsani and Mabel Chou

· Topic 6: Supply Network Modelling and Optimization, Heti Mulyati and Teo Chung Piaw

The visit commenced with opening remarks from distinguished leaders: Prof. Noer Azam Achsani (Dean of SB-IPB) and Prof. Chung Piaw Teo (Director of IORA, NUS). This was followed by insightful presentations on key research topics, including technology readiness in the food supply chain by Prof. Dikky Indrawan, process flexibility under uncertainties by Prof. Mabel Chou, and supply chain resilience for critical cold chain imports by Dr. Koh Chaik Ming.

A series of roundtable discussions facilitated deeper engagement on critical research areas such as banana supply chain case studies, intelligent demand forecasting, shelf-life prediction, harvest decision-making, dynamic pricing, and supply network optimization. Experts from both institutions contributed their perspectives, laying the groundwork for future research collaborations.

QUICK RECAP:

Field Day !

On the field day we explored the university research fields;

· IPB Dramaga

· IPB Leuwikopo

· IPB Agribusiness Techno Park (ATP)

We also explored;

· IPB Pilot Farms

· IPB University Museum

The second day provided an immersive experience at IPB’s field farms. The NUS team explored the Leuwikopo facility and the Agribusiness Techno Park (ATP), gaining firsthand exposure to sustainable farming practices and cutting-edge agribusiness technologies. These visits reinforced the importance of bridging research with practical implementation in optimizing food supply chains.

This visit strengthened the collaboration between NUS and IPB, paving the way for future joint research efforts in supply chain innovation and sustainability. We extend our gratitude to IPB University for their warm hospitality and look forward to continuing this impactful partnership.
