Institute of Operations Research and Analytics (IORA) participated in the 17th Singapore-Zhejiang Economic and Trade Council (SZETC) meeting on 15 August 2023. The event was co-chaired by Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and National Development Ms Sim Ann and Zhejiang Vice-Governor Mr Lu Shan.
Singapore and China’s eastern Zhejiang province are setting up a new work group that will promote the flow of data across the two markets and facilitate investment and research collaborations between their digital economy enterprises.
Ms Sim said digitalisation can help to enhance the capabilities of different industries. “Zhejiang is China’s e-commerce hub and is at the forefront of newer forms of digital content creation such as live streaming. Singapore and Zhejiang companies can explore working together on these areas, share best practices and test-bed digital solutions to benefit our companies.”
In line with this objective, Professor Teo Chung Piaw (Executive Director of IORA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Enjoytown Corporation and ZIBS SG Institute during the SZETC to collaborate on the following:
- Establishment of joint research projects in the area of supply chain management, operations research, and data science and finance for the aviation industries
- High-end training courses design for entrepreneurs and senior executives of the aviation industries
- Workshops and exchanges for staff and students on joint research and development activities, seminars, and conferences
- Establishment of Joint Executive Development Programme
