Supply Network Modelling and Optimization

There are a variety of operational issues and challenges in the first mile logistics of banana supply chain. For example, when and which type of bananas from the farms should be delivered to which retailers and shops via which type of transport mode and which transportation route? There are many factors involved, such as bananas’ maturity conditions, transporters’ capacity, route traffic conditions, even pricing information from The Dynamic Pricing for Banana Farms Topic. The proposed research works aim to formulate and model the first mile supply network in the banana supply chain and optimize the supply network to achieve the minimal operational cost, the maximal consumer satisfaction and the minimal bananas’ waste.

Our Objective

  • Formulate and model the first mile supply network in the banana supply chain.
  • Optimize the supply network to achieve the minimal operational cost, the maximal consumer satisfaction and the minimal bananas’ waste.

Our Deliverables

  • Novel mathematical formulations and models for the first mile supply networks.
  • Analytical framework for optimal supply networks.
