The Food Supply Chain Research Programme

A Collaboration between National University of Singapore and Bogor Agricultural University (IPB University)

OUR TEAM STATEMENT

The food supply chain is a complex network that operates the delivery of food from producers to consumers. The food supply chain faces numerous challenges that threaten its resilience, efficiency, and sustainability. The necessity for robust, innovative solutions has never been more critical, particularly in the face of climate change, population growth, and geopolitical instability. We have embarked on food supply chain research and development without spare effort, and set our vision and mission as follows.

OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE

To be the foremost research organization in Asia Pacific, shaping the future of food supply chains by driving innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence. We envision a future where the region’s food systems are highly adaptive, transparent, and capable of ensuring equitable access to nutritious and safe food, supporting both regional and global food security.

OUR MISSION

To lead cutting-edge research and development in the food supply chain across the Asia Pacific region, leveraging operations research and data-driven technologies. We are committed to creating innovative solutions that enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and resilience of regional food systems, addressing unique challenges such as resource constraints, diverse supply chains, and food security needs.

INTRODUCING THE PROGRAMME

At the inception of this collaborative research programme, led by Dikky Indrawan (IPB) and Yuan Xue Ming (NUS), our primary focus is on advancing research and development in the banana supply chain through data-driven analytics. By leveraging cutting-edge methodologies, we aim to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and resilience across the supply network.

The IPB team brings extensive experience and deep expertise in the agricultural sector, with strong connections to Indonesian banana farms and plantations. Meanwhile, the NUS team possesses well-established expertise in operations research, supply chain management, and data analytics. This collaboration fosters a powerful synergy, integrating domain knowledge with analytical rigor to drive innovation and transformation in the banana supply chain. The details of the collaborative research are presented below.
